Psychologists study behavior but that doesn’t mean that
Psychologists are perfect and cannot have problems with their patients.
Psychologists are just normal people who deal with different problems everyday.
Here are some of the Ethical Dilemmas that Psychologists
experience:
Confidentiality: Psychologists should always keep all the
conversations they have with their patients inside the four corners of their
clinic. But, sometimes, because of too much weight put into them, psychologists
are tempted to share stories in order for them to release all the stress put
into them. The proper thing to do here is have an outlet in every situation
they face, may it be through blogging, music or whatever except gossiping about
it.
Conflct of Relationships: Psychologists like what I have
said are normal people. They are able to connect with each of their patients or
clients. Developing different kinds of feelings toward those clients is
inevitable. That is either good or bad depending on how the Psychologist deal
with it.
Payment: Like in any other field, Psychologists work for
money. Let’s not be hypocrites and tell we work to JUST help, we all want to
earn big time. Problems with patients who are not able to pay always occur. No
matter how hard the situation is, if there is no money down, the services
cannot be given. There comes a time when doctors pass their patients to others
who would accept them even with no or low payment.
Forensic Psychology: As much as psychologists want balance
in their work, forensic psychology forces them to just see one side of the
picture. This happens in testifying different cases. Psychologists are only
allowed to visit or take a look at one person’s point of view. They cannot see
both pictures because it would be a harder situation.
Different problems occur in different situations. The only
solution is to find good ways on how to deal with them and find balance in
every dilemma.
